Yesterday, I handed over my duties to Xiaohui - it marks the beginning of a new era, of change, of friendship, of the Science Society.
The trip has been long and winding, with the road twisting and definitely not smooth.
I remember being a part of the first sai kang, I remember being a part of a successful event.
Today I can safely say that I never regretted this journey.
Gary's speech was an eye-opener into the SS before I joined. Nevertheless, I'm proud to have been a part of this, a part of a big family.
I remember the day Mr Chow approached me before morning assembly. I wondered what he wanted to see me for. It turns out that he was trying to talk me into taking up the VP role. I was reluctant at first, given that I was still actively involved in Ventures and actively involved in many other projects. I told him I couldn't commit, that my CCA days clashed with Science Society CCA days. I told him 'no'.
He talked for a while more - he said that it was okay, I can just be in charge of the 2nd CCA members and represent them. Ahh...the naiveness of me in those days - I actually believed him! So, with the introduction of me into the CCA, I sunk in with every new project; I got pushed in deeper. Now, I occasionally miss Ventures for my obligations in Science Society.
Looking back, I must say I'd never have survived if not for Gary and Hester. They're the people whom I have worked closest with - I remember us freaking out together during SISC because the preparation for the Science Camp was not done. I remember us getting scolded by Mr Chow in the morning, I remember us feeling guilty and smsing Mr Chow every few minutes to apologise. We are a team; Or at least we felt like one.
Gary, Hester, Mr Chow and I. We've done the planning for most of the Science Society activities and have had just so many gossip sessions and online meetings that I think I lost track of the exact numbers already. We'd stay up till 11pm and sometimes beyond to discuss all the details for events and meetings. Somehow these all seem so far away now.
Now that I've finally stepped down, I must say Mr Chow made the greatest impact on me. He was the guiding hand for all of us 3 and the advisor whenever we felt that we couldn't make it. He was the one who pushed us to greater heights. I can't imagine a RV life without him.
Anyway, away from such emo stuff, I just want to congratulate the new committee for making it this far - and I hope that everyone will just work hard and do your best!
I especially want to congratulate Zhiliang - I never would have seen your ability if I never saw you in action - you're just one of the largest surprises in Science Society.
Xiaohui - I'll miss working with you on the Science Whiz! I hope that you will continue to lead the society to great heights and persevere although you'll have to juggle SC too!
Yiwei - DIRECT JUNIOR! muahahahha. Continue doing your best for the society! :D and don't emo about Econs!
Fangqi - I've known you for...your entire life in RV! HAHAH. I'll always remember the times we had in Guides together and now you're in Science Society too as the exco. Do your best in whatever you do...and do better for acads so that others don't have a reason to put you down!
Haiz. Stepping down from Science Society means alot more free time. I hope that you'll still ask Yr 6s for advice, if any! :D

I believe I've come a long way from being a innocent girl in this BIG BIG world to becoming someone.
Went to play badminton with Ventures today :D yays to my fav people! Hehe.
Played from 9am to 10.30am or so. The rest have gotten so good! :D
Anyway, after that Sherrie came over at 12.30pm to go to Civil Service College with me...
The test surprised me. I just have a slight regret that I didn't manage to shade all the bubbles in the Maths section. Hai.
At this point in time, I do not hold high hopes. I guess what will be will be.

One of the many stressful chapters of my life has come to a close.
Project Work is TOTALLY OVER with the release of the results today at 11am!!
And muacks to all those who made my results possible :D
It was hilarious in my opinion. Ms Chitra announced over the PA system at 10.50 am that the PW lists were up and that Year 6s can now go and check out our results.
6D was in Physics Practical with Ms Lim AP, and we like literally begged her to let us go. So being the nice person she is, she said yes :D
So we rushed down to the General Office with crazy pumping hearts and the feeling of doom. I'm glad to say that 6D did okay on the whole, with only As and Bs. 6 Bs, the rest As.
Some B people deserve As I suppose. There is always ligering mysteries in such release of results. I wonder...(shall not go on, so as not to create any hard feelings)...
Anyway, today also marks the start of RV Year 6 Ventures' Books To Read Collection Drive!
So...If you have any old English Books, give them to MEMEMEMEME.
After school today, I went to Lakeside! Worked with Ziling again. HAHAHA. She's absolutely hilarious. She can copy something and copy the whole sentence wrongly. 0.0 I'm still very amazed. But anyway, it's great that she's interacting more :D
Talked to Gina a bit today and the Wei Cai guy today (aka Caocao, which I'm calling him like forever). They're crazy. And eh. I learnt that enemity runs deep. HAHA. All the P6s think that Albert is crap. So sad... I wonder what did he do to get the job in the first place.
Ah well. All's fine and I ended my CIP at 6pm and came home to a nice room :D
Homework's piling up! and I absolutely NEED to understand my Economics. Like by this weekend.

Last Wednesday, on 7th April,
I concluded my 4th and last Junior Science Whiz Event Organisation.
It was grand, with a stage round in place of a hands-on round.
The grandness was contributed by a smooth transition and unhindered stage round emceed by Gary and me. Thanks to Gary for being there, since I think I'd have been a very blur emcee without his help.
Nevertheless, nothing can ever run too smoothly and there was a technical fault towards the end, resulting in South View and Henry Park Primary Schools having to exchange their Gold and Silver Prizes after collecting them previously. On behalf of SS, I express my deepest apologies.
Having been involved heavily in the Whiz since its inauguration, it kind of felt weird to finally say goodbye...
Taking that photo with friends I've known since forever, with people who slogged it out with me, with the teachers who provided the best guidance in the world...it just is so overwhelming. I'm just surprised that no one cried - instead, we were cheerful, laughing like there's no tomorrow...and of course, screaming happy birthdays to Hester.
I think in this entire process, I seem to have taken all roles except the hands-on station. In the short 4 years, according to what I remember, I have been emcee twice, registration once and auditor once. Somehow, I'm always someone wearing the blazer.
Anyway, the 4 years conducting the Whiz shows how much I've grown and shows how Science Society has matured. I'm sure it will continue to scale new heights, because it must and has all the calibre to do it.
Handing over should be just round the corner - argh. I'm old. Nevertheless, I'll still love SS to bits.
RVSS, imagine, innovate, inspire.
Thanks to all who made this possible.
On to the next topic, which is also rather emo...
I took my last NAPFA ever on last thurs and this week's monday.
I gave it my all, and I proudly announce that Rita has a Gold streak from beginning to the end.
Whew. I actually challenged myself to keep this streak this year, and I must say I made it.
AAAAAB, with the B coming from a 2.4 km timing of 14.09, short of the 14.01 required for A. Gah. If only I ran faster. But anyway, a timing of 14 minutes in itself is already an achievement to me, given that I usually am a 15 minuter. I look forward to the printing of the result slip.
Speaking of result slips, we received our 1st draft of our entry proof for A levels. Mine was like $600++ in examination fees! The most expensive A level paper is H3 Pharmaceutical Chemistry, at $150. I wonder why...it's not as if they have to print more papers for H3 exams than H2 exams, nor do they conduct 3rd degree discrimination because more people take H2 than H3. Hai. Whatever the case, my examination fees are expensive!
Ventures activities are now heating up too...I gotta go Lakeside more often! I love the little kids...now...should I go to Education or go to Chemical Engineering or go to Pure Sciences? Argh. I'm at a loss. What do I want to be when I grow up? Years ago, I thought my calling was Pharmacy. But that means I have to do it overseas, because NUS does not accept non-biology students.
Recently, some scholarship stuffs have been raised and brought to our attention. Perhaps now is the time where I need to really weigh my options and find one that will suit me. Personally, I'm not concerned with terms and conditions. I just need to find my calling. Will my calling come in the next month or so?
